Birr Town 4 Stradbally 1

Birr made it three wins from three with a hard earned win over a gallant Stradbally side on Saturday. Birr were made to work hard the whole game and after a sluggish start they found their rhythm and took the lead halfway through the half after brilliant work by Ricky Fitzsimons who got the ball out wide took on the defenders and finished smartly. Birr added to their lead just before the break with Ricky this time turning provider when his corner was finished to the back of the net by Alessio Szoma. Town went in at the break two nil up and looked in control of the game, but a bit of sloppy play early in the second half allowed the away side back into the game as a mistake was punished by their striker. However, this birr side are made of stern stuff and reacted brilliantly and not long after were two goals ahead again with Ricky getting his second after been played through by Aaron Dalzell. In what was an excellent team performance player of the game today was Dennis Alminana who worked tirelessly throughout and caused all sort of problems to the Stradbally defence all game.
